My Juice Cleanse…Adventure?

Lately I have been feeling kind of bloated and gross, so I am taking on the challenge of a 7 day juice cleanse.  WHAT WAS I THINKING!?!  Day one has come to a close and I am almost through day two, thank God.  Being an avid coffee drinker, by Tuesday night I had a throbbing headache and even as I type this I have a dull headache that just will not go away.  I haven’t really felt too hungry, mostly just the wanting to chew on something.  On the plus side when I woke up this morning and weighed, I was down 2 pounds! Woo-hoo!!!

Here is my daily intake of liquids, this is an estimate;

-68 ounces of water

-32-48 ounces of juice

-And herbal tea, as much as I want!

-I may add vegetable broth to my daily intake on day 5.

-I also take a fiber powder and super greens powder.  Sometimes I put the fiber in water , add it to whatever I have juiced, or put it in 8 ounces of orange juice.

Now for the juicing recipes!

Day 1 Juice 1

about 16 ounces

1/2 pound of cherries

2 medium oranges

1 inch chuck of ginger

*I added my fiber powder to this

Day One Juice One

Day 1 Juice 2

about 20 ounces

1/2 medium pineapple

2 celery sticks

1 bundle of kale

1 bundle of rainbow chard

10 strawberries (they were starting to turn, so I tossed them in)

1 inch chunk of ginger

Day 2 Juice 1

about 16 ounces

2 small beets

3 carrots

1/2 pound of cherries

1 grapefruit

1 lime

1 inch chunk of ginger

*fiber powder added


Day 2 Juice 1

about 16 ounces

1 lemon

1 grapefruit

1 orange

1 apple

1 inch chunk of ginger

2 carrots

1 tablespoon of Super Greens (YUCK!)

Super Greens are so nasty and it takes everything in me to down them.  I think next time I will go with the orange flavored ones and add it to orange juice to hopefully get rid of the awful taste.

Day 2 Juice 2

Day 2 Juice 3

about 16 ounces

1 apple

2 celery sticks

1 bundle of kale

1 bundle of cilantro

1 lemon

1 inch chunk of ginger

*This one was kind of gross, a little too cilantro-y.  I had to follow each gulp with a lemon-water chaser.

  1. You are awesome! It sounds like you are doing great! Cleansing is nature’s way of getting rid of unwanted toxins and foreign substances from our body! High five for doing a juice cleanse! It sounds like you are having some detox symptoms, it is totally normal to experience bloating and gas as well as headaches from not drinking coffee. Over time the gas should diminish.
    I find it helpful to mix a little organic apple juice with the greens powder to make it more palatable.
    The first three days are always the hardest! You go girl! You got this!

    1. No headache today! I am thrilled that dull headache is finally gone. That bloating feeling I had before starting the cleanse is finally gone. I feel good and “flushed.” Can you feel flushed out? haha
      I ended up putting the greens in my juice this morning and it went down a lot more easily.
