A couple of weeks ago I posted two different laundry detergent recipes. The first was a powdered recipe and the second was a liquid like paste. Out of the two, I prefer the powdered. We have had no issues with residue and our laundry comes out smelling fresh and clean. Although our laundry is so fresh and so clean clean, it wasn’t as soft as we were used to. This recipe seems to have solved that minor issue. I did switch up the soap and added Epsom Salt. Epsom Salt combats hard water and also softens the laundry. I have also read that adding vinegar to the softener dispenser will make the laundry soft and it helps remove any detergent residue. Overall, I think this will be our go-to laundry detergent from here on out.You will need;
- 2 cups of borax
- 2 cups of baking soda
- 2 cups of washing soda
- 2 bars of Fels-Naptha (or any other no-suds bar)
- 1 cup of Epsom Salt
I used a food processor to grate the soap. When that was done I added the Fels-Naptha, Epsom Salt and the borax to the Blendtec. I pulsed it for about 25 seconds and it broke up all the soap, salt and clumps of borax. Add that to a large bowl, then add the baking soda and washing soda. That’s it. Now you just have to mix away to combine all the ingredients. From start to clean up it took me about 15 minutes. Easy peasy!
