Charleston, South Carolina

Charleston was founded in 1670 and that makes it the oldest city in South Carolina.  It is filled with so much history and charm.  Plan to spend several days, or even a week or so, because there is so much to see and do.  It is a great place to go as a family, with littles, or with friends; there is something for everyone.
My sister and I stayed at the Meeting Street Inn, and it was the perfect location, right in the heart of the Historic District.  The rooms were beautiful and the garden courtyards were quite and filled with places to sit or eat.  It is also close to so many historic sites and delicious restaurants.  If you decide not to do any tours, it is worth it just to stroll the streets.  The neighborhoods are filled with classic Georgia, Federal, Adamesque, Italianate, Greek Revival and Victorian homes.  Not only are the homes beautiful, there are churches, old cemeteries and the Historic Market that are truly stunning!  Charleston is such a lovely city and it is on my list of cities to return to soon.
